Balustrades
- Glass: keeps open countryside views clear.
- Aluminium: slim and almost maintenance-free, in black, grey or white.
- Hardwood or composite: classic spindles and handrail, ideal for cottages and barns.
Any edge with a drop of more than 600mm needs guarding, and we build to the heights and strengths in Building Regulations.
Steps
On a barn conversion or farmhouse, a long run of low, wide steps down to the lawn can look superb. Wherever they go, we build steps with even risers, solid nosings and handrails where the flight needs one.
Lighting
Low-voltage LEDs in step risers, deck boards and post caps make steps safe after dark and give the deck a warm glow, especially lovely in a rural garden with no street lights. Cables run inside the frame during the build, and lights work from a transformer on an outdoor socket; any new mains supply is fitted by a qualified electrician.
Common questions
Will deck lights be too bright in the countryside?
No. We use soft, low-level LEDs pointed at the boards and steps, so the deck glows gently without lighting up the night sky over the fields.
Can I mix balustrade styles?
Yes. Glass along the side that looks over the fields and timber or aluminium elsewhere is a popular combination.
