Level with your doors
A raised deck brings the floor out from the kitchen at the same level, so you step straight out instead of down. Where the drop is bigger, we split the deck into levels with broad steps between, keeping it in proportion with the house and giving you separate spaces for dining and relaxing. Raised decks are also great for making the most of a view across open countryside.
Proper structure
We set posts on concrete footings, size and brace the frame for the height, and fix it securely to the house or build it to stand alone. Any edge with a drop of more than 600mm has a balustrade, and steps are even with handrails where needed. Fascia boards hide the frame.
Planning
Decks more than 30cm above the ground normally need planning permission. We'll discuss height, privacy and the planning position at the visit, and North Yorkshire Council can confirm what's needed.
Common questions
Can a raised deck open up a view?
Often, yes. Lifting the deck can give you a view over hedges to the fields, and a glass balustrade keeps it clear.
Does a raised deck need to be fixed to the house?
Not always. Where the wall isn't suitable, we build a free-standing frame.
