Hardwood
Dense hardwoods are strong and naturally durable, with a beautiful grain. Oil them each year to keep a rich colour, or let them weather to a soft silver-grey that sits naturally against stone and oak.
Treated softwood
Pressure-treated softwood is a good-value way to get a natural deck. Give it a clean and an oil or stain every year or two and it will look good for years.
Built to last
We keep timber off the soil, leave drainage gaps and air underneath, treat every cut end, and use ground-contact timber and stainless or coated fixings in the frame.
Timber or composite?
If you love the feel of real wood and don't mind a little care, timber is lovely. If you'd rather not oil it, composite decking offers convincing wood-grain finishes with almost no upkeep.
Common questions
Will a hardwood deck suit a barn conversion?
Very often. Hardwood complements oak frames and stone beautifully.
Does timber decking attract insects?
Treated and well-ventilated timber that dries out properly is far less prone to problems. Good drainage is key.
